FORT WORTH, Texas — The announcement last week about a major production company coming to Fort Worth was big — big as a locomotive.

GE Transportation’s decision to locate a $96 million manufacturing plant here means that 250 to 300 state-of-the-art 450,000-pound locomotives will be built in Fort Worth each year.

The 900,000-square-foot facility in the Alliance corridor west of Texas Motor Speedway in Denton County will provide up to 775 quality jobs, starting with about 500 employees and eventually adding 275.
