The Meridian & Bigbee runs from Montgomery to Meridian, Miss.

Overall, Genesee & Wyoming carried 65,438 carloads last month, up from 64,615 a year earlier. The company said the increase was largely because it purchased CAGY Industries, which operates three railroads, on May 31.

The company also said its second-quarter traffic increased slightly, from 196,077 carloads to 196,556.
