EL PASO, Texas — A group of Juárez residents are voicing their opposition against the Mexican federal government paying for cross-border trains to continue traveling through the city instead of bypassing it.

The group that Ortiz represents is particularly concerned about the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) railroad’s support of five temporary bridges and underpasses for Juárez to keep cross-border trains operating at Juárez and El Paso.
