ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad says a group of Minnesota and South Dakota organizations is joining the fight for a major rail renewal project.
The Mayo Clinic and the City of Rochester have filed a lawsuit against the railroad over the project.
The DM&E says about 60 organizations filed papers with the Court of Appeals in Minneapolis yesterday to intervene in that lawsuit.
The Minnesota Farm Bureau, Minnesota Farmers Union and the Minnesota Agri-Growth Council are among those supporting the project.
The railroad is still waiting for approval of a two-point-five (B) billion-dollar federal loan to finance the project.
