DETROIT — Several governmental groups and a private company are working on a way to improve the Amtrak commute on the Wolverine line between Pontiac and Chicago. The hitch is that the six trains a day — three each way, each of which stops in Dearborn —have to slow between Chicago and Porter, Ind., due to heavy freight train traffic in the area known as “South of the Lake.”
