LINCOLN, Neb. — The smell of diesel exhaust and old lumber filled the air as Melvin Anderson carefully moved controls in his excavator, trying not to damage two old Illinois Central Railroad passenger cars. The two cars, along with two cabooses, have been sold by the city of Lincoln as plans progress to restore the old brick train station and the land surrounding for future professional office space.
