PARK RIDGE, Ill. — Approximately 340 manufacturing employees at Senior Flexonics overwhelmingly ratified their first contract with Teamsters Local 330 on Sept. 15.
By a 3-to-1 margin, the automotive, energy, medical and aerospace supply manufacturers first gained Teamster representation in an election on Feb. 15. After 22 long and difficult negotiation sessions that lasted over six months, Local 330 President Dominic Romanazzi and the bargaining committee secured a three-year contract that includes annual wage increases, seniority rights, strike protection and the benefits of the Teamsters’ powerful grievance procedure.
“Local 330 applauds our new members at Senior Flexonics for sticking together throughout negotiations and ratifying a strong and equitable contract,” Romanazzi said. “The livelihoods of our members and their families will dramatically improve from this day forward thanks to the rights and protections that can only be guaranteed with a Teamster contract.”
Among its guarantees, the agreement provides wage increases up to 3.75 percent in the second and third years for the company’s production associates and specialists. All raises are retroactive to June 3. The contract also includes increased pension contributions, four paid personal days each year for all workers and a new right for part-time employees to be afforded first preference in the filling of full-time vacancies.
Additionally, the company has agreed to strict limits on the subcontracting of Teamster work. New language protects all current employees from the threat of lay off or economic loss as a result of subcontract agreements.
Teamsters at Senior Flexonics, based in Bartlett, Ill., manufacture fuel system components, medical products, green energy products, high-pressure fuel rails and heavy-duty machinery. The company was founded in Chicago in 1902.
