DES MOINES — A railroad that operates in Iowa has received a $233 million federal loan to repair tracks and bridges.
The Iowa, Chicago and Eastern Railroad will also use the 25-year loan to retire debt.
Senator Chuck Grassley says Iowa farmers need good railroads to be able to ship their products to customers for a good price.
The Iowa, Chicago and Eastern Railroad is part of the Dakota, Minnesota and Eastern Railroad.
The company operates between Dubuque, Marquette and Mason City in northern Iowa, and between Dubuque, Davenport and Ottumwa in the eastern and southern parts of the state.
