NEW YORK — Japan’s government will send a Transport Ministry official to promote shinkansen technology to the U.S. to have bullet trains used in a network of high-speed rail lines envisioned by President Barack Obama, Nikkei English News reported, without saying how it obtained the information.
Tokio Kano, a senior vice minister at the Transport Ministry, will visit the U.S. early next month for discussions with U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, Nikkei said.
