KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Southern today announced the appointment of Mark Osterberg as vice president and comptroller.

Mr. Osterberg will oversee the financial reporting and accounting functions of the holding company, KCS and its subsidiaries. He will join KCS on February 9, 2004.

Mr. Osterberg has a combined 15 years of transportation experience with senior financial positions at Sun Country Airlines, Norton Motorcycles, Northwest Airlines and Braniff. Mr. Osterberg was also employed by Deloitte Haskins & Sells for nine years, where he audited a variety of both public and private companies. Most recently, he has served as a consultant for a variety of clients including Sun Country.

Russ, KCS executive vice president and chief financial officer. “Mark’s diverse background in both Big Four public accounting and publicly held transportation companies provides a firm base for financial performance and solid financial reporting.”

Mr. Osterberg holds an MBA in Accounting from the University of Florida, an MA in Economics from Rice University, a BBA in economics from Southern Methodist University and a CPA certificate.
