KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Southern (KCS) has announced the promotion of Ronald G. Russ to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. He will be responsible for the company’s finance, accounting, taxation, financial risk management, investor relations, purchasing, and inventory control functions.

Mr. Russ joined KCS as senior vice president and chief financial officer in July 2002. Prior to that he was employed at Wisconsin Central, where he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer. From 1993 to 1999, he was executive manager and chief financial officer for Tranz Rail Holdings Limited, an affiliate of Wisconsin Central in New Zealand. He has over 25 years experience in the railroad industry.

KCS also announced that Thomas J. Healey has been promoted from Assistant General Counsel to Associate General Counsel. Mr. Healey joined KCS in May 2002, after three years serving as counsel in the Washington, D.C., office of Troutman Sanders LLP. Prior to that he served in a variety of legal roles during a nine-year tenure in the Chicago office of Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly. In addition, Mr. Healey was formerly employed at the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway from 1988 to 1991, where he was engaged in a variety of legal-related matters.
