CHICAGO — Railroad company Kansas City Southern on Tuesday said quarterly net profit fell from a year earlier, when a tax settlement boosted results.
The Kansas City, Missouri-based company reported third-quarter net income of $26.4 million, or 32 cents a share, compared with $110.5 million, or $1.14 a share, a year earlier.
Analysts on average had expected earnings of 23 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates.
Excluding the tax settlement, year-earlier earnings were 2 cents a share, the company said.
