KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Southern today announced that Daniel W. Avramovich will assume the position of executive vice president sales and marketing, effective May 15, 2006. This new position is being created to coordinate the company’s sales and marketing efforts as KCS builds seamless service between the United States and Mexico.

“KCS has a dedicated team of sales and marketing professionals in both the U.S. and Mexico,” said Art Shoener, KCS executive vice president and chief operating officer and president and chief executive officer of The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR). “Dan has a solid marketing and finance background that will help lead the international team’s efforts to grow the business, particularly in the development of an international intermodal corridor between Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico City, Kansas City and Atlanta.” Mr. Avramovich will report directly to Mr. Shoener.

Mr. Avramovich joins KCS from Exel/DHL Supply Chain, where he served in various leadership capacities over the past 10 years including his most recent position as president of Network Services – Americas. Prior to that, he held senior officer positions in the logistics and transportation field with Union Pacific Corporation, Landstar Transportation, Pepsico and Accenture. While at Union Pacific he progressed from vice president-controller to vice president marketing and sales for Union Pacific Railroad and then to executive vice president marketing, sales and customer service for Overnite Transportation.

Mr. Avramovich brings to KCS over 25 years of senior leadership experience with some of the industry’s leaders in logistics, supply chain management and transportation. He holds a master of science in accounting from Kent State University, a bachelor of science and bachelor of arts from Akron University and is a certified public accountant. He is also a member of the Council of Supply Chain Professional Management.
