KANSAS CITY, Mo. — On June 24, KCS celebrated the 14th anniversary since the concession to operate the railroad in Mexico.

As a tribute, the First Lady of Mexico, Margarita Zavala sent a video congratulating KCS and emphasizing the important role the company plays in the Mexican economy. She also complimented KCS on its positive working relationship with the federal government.

KCS de Mexico president and executive representative Jose Zozaya spoke to employees in Monterrey and Mexico City, acknowledging the tremendous teamwork that has helped KCS overcome challenges and achieve its goals.

Also part of the celebration, on June 26 in Monterrey, KCS hosted the second annual 5K race for employees and their families. A total of 350 people participated. Following the race, Zozaya, senior vice president operations Oscar Del Cueto, director de soporte operativo Jacobo Jacome, director mecanico Jorge de Leon, subdirector de recursos humanos Eugenio Vargas, and a group of children of employees distributed prizes to the winners.

A raffle was also held for everyone who crossed the finish line. Alejandro Carpinteyro Reyes, the son of dispatcher Jose Carpinteyro Galves won a trip to Cancun and information technology employee Maria de Lourdes Arzarte won a trip to Puerto Vallarta.
