KANSAS CITY — Kansas City Southern is pleased to announce the promotion of John E. Foster from assistant chief mechanical officer to vice president and chief mechanical officer for KCS’ U.S. operation, effective June 1, 2005. Based in Shreveport, La. Mr. Foster replaces James E. Fisk, who has taken a position as a vice president of Electro Motive Diesel to be closer to his family in Chicago, Ill.

“John brings a wealth of experience to his new role at KCS and knows first-hand what it takes to run a world-class mechanical operation,” said Art Shoener, president and chief executive officer of KCS’ U.S. operation. Mr. Foster began his career as a carman apprentice with The Kansas City Southern Railway Company in 1968 and has worked his way through the mechanical ranks.
