BATON ROUGE, La. — Around 11:00pm last night, five train cars derailed on the portion of track above Interstate 110.

I-110 north and southbound at North 19th Street, Scenic and 22nd Street is closed this morning, as police pick up debris.

The northbound lanes of 110 are also closed at Laurel Street, Capitol Access and North 9th Street.

The rail cars were being operated by Kansas City Southern and an agent representing Kansas City Southern said the cars were being operated by remote control, meaning they were unmanned.

About 12 automobiles, travelling on the interstate at the time of the accident, were damaged by falling debris. No one was hurt.
