KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Southern (KCS) announced today that its subsidiary, The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR), is investing approximately $14.3 million in 2016 on construction and improvement projects on its New Orleans Subdivision.

Rail, cross tie and crossing improvements are planned between Port Allen and Simmesport, La. and a rail project is planned in Norco, La. The work is expected to begin on November 15 and continue through late-December. Communities that KCSR will be working through include Norco, Port Allen, Glynn, New Roads, Morganza, Batchelor, Innis, Lettsworth and Simmesport. In total, the project work will include the replacement of 4.5 miles of rail, 52,000 cross ties, as well as improvements to over 100 road crossings.
