Kansas City Southern de México S.A. de C.V. (KCSM) and Bulkmatic de México S. de R.L de C.V. recently opened a new TransLoad Center (TLC) at the Maclovio Herrera rail facility in Ocoyoacac, Mexico, near Toluca. Operated by Bulkmatic, the facility will be used to transload freight — such as chemicals, steel, paper and plastic — from rail to truck for final delivery.

KCSM has focused on developing rail infrastructure in the Toluca area, such as the new Puerta Mexico intermodal terminal and transload terminal, said KCSM President and Executive Representative Jose Zozaya in an item posted on the “KCS News” web page.

“Toluca has a concentration of industries that can benefit from rail service,” he said. “These facilities will help optimize the supply chain of industries in this area.”

Through its TLC program, KCSM parent Kansas City Southern partners with logistics, trucking and warehousing firms to provide various distribution and consolidation services. The program offers a single-bill, door-to-door package that includes rail, trucking and warehousing services. KCS also has established TLCs in a number of other Mexican cities, including Mexico City, Monterrey, San Luis Potosi and Veracruz.
