PITTSBURGH — L.B. Foster Company subsidiary, CXT Incorporated, announced today that it has been awarded a long-term contract for the supply of pre-stressed concrete railroad ties to the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) through 2012.

CXT will expand and modernize its Grand Island, Nebraska plant and build a new facility in Tucson, Arizona to accommodate the contract’s requirements. Both plants will utilize state-of-the-art, prestress production technology. “This new contract, the largest in Foster’s history, assures that we maintain our position as the leading manufacturer of concrete ties in North America. Our plants will be the world’s most modern prestressed concrete tie facilities, providing the UPRR with excellent process control and high speed load out systems,” Stan Hasselbusch, President/CEO, L.B. Foster Company reported. Both plants will be registered to ISO 9001:2000 and PCI quality standards.

CXT projects that revenues from these facilities could exceed $150 Million.
