MONTREAL — After 47 people were killed and a third of the downtown was destroyed in last July’s catastrophic Lac-Mégantic, Que., train derailment, many despaired that the town could never bounce back. A local business group, though, has unveiled a rebuilding plan that proposes “to transform tragedy into opportunity.” A centrepiece of Groupe Action Mégantic’s project to rebuild Lac-Mégantic’s downtown would be a museum of railway history luring tourists with a big-screen 3D recreation of the July 6 oil-train derailment and ensuing inferno.
