WASHINGTON, D.C. — Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood sung the praises of California state lawmakers Monday for approving a controversial high-speed railway that has been pushed by the Obama administration. The California state Senate voted Friday to appropriate $2.6 billion to a high-speed railway that supporters say will quickly link San Francisco, Los Angeles and other major cities.
