OAKRIDGE, Ore. — A Union Pacific spokeswoman says a landslide outside of Oakridge is worse than initially thought, and it will take weeks to remove tons of debris and repair the railroad track.

Spokeswoman Zoe Richmond says two sections of track were affected, 1 of which was about 3,000 feet long and covered in mud and logs that were 20 feet deep.

Until the line is reopened, freight traffic between Portland and Roseville, California, will be rerouted on Burlington Northern Santa Fe lines that run through Bend.
