RONKONKOMA, N.Y. — Some 30 passengers had to be evacuated, when a fire broke out under a car of the Long Island Rail Road in Ronkonkoma on Wednesday morning.
Officials say the fire started in the undercarriage of the Ronkonkoma-bound train. The train had left Manhattan at 10:15 a.m. and was just about to reach the station.
Luckily, no injuries were reported and the fire was quickly brought under control. Service was temporarily interrupted but has resumed on the line.
