WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers will warn Fort Worth residents of the potential dangers that are associated with Remote Controlled Train Operations in and around their community during a demonstration Saturday (May 24) in Fort Worth.

Union Pacific, Burlington Northern Santa Fe and other class 1 railroads are currently implementing Remote Controlled Train Operations, where locomotives are operated without fully qualified and experienced engineers on board, in many of their major classification yards across the country. These large railroads are major transporters of nuclear waste, hazardous materials and deadly chemicals.

Union Pacific Railroad is currently operating unmanned locomotives in and around their Centennial Yard Terminal that lies adjacent to the Colonial Golf Club, home of the PGA — Colonial Open.
