EUGENE, Ore. — Deputies near Eugene arrested a man suspected of trying to steal a train when he was drunk.
According to Lane County Sheriffs, a Union Pacific engineer said a drunk man snuck aboard the locomotive which was pulling several cars, and started pressing buttons and levers — and actually had the engine halfway started before he was confronted around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
The engineer said he was harassing the crew and refused to leave.
When deputies arrived they found 22-year-old Caleb Gary nearby. He was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and trespassing.
