GLASSPORT, Pa. — A man will go to trial for allegedly making a bomb threat aboard a Chicago-bound Amtrak train, stranding passengers just south of Pittsburgh for more than two hours, according to an Associated Press reported.
Raymond Lamont Smith, 28, of Greenville, S.C., is charged with recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats, causing or risking a catastrophe, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Amtrak employees testified during a hearing Tuesday that they heard Smith say he had a bomb and was going to blow up the train en route from Washington, D.C., on Sept. 22.
The train was stopped and searched in Port Vue.
Smith is being held in the Allegheny County Jail on $1.25 million bond and has a scheduled court appearance on Feb. 10.
