SEATTLE, Wash. — An Amtrak passenger train bound from Seattle to Chicago ran over a man yesterday in Ballard, but he survived, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported.
The man, believed to be about 24 years old, was lying between the rails when the train rolled over him about 5 p.m., said Gus Melonas, a spokesman for Burlington Northern Santa Fe, which owns the tracks.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with a broken arm and knee injuries, Melonas said.
It wasn’t immediately known why the man was lying between the rails, Melonas said.
No hometown was immediately available, although officials said the man was from out of state.
The train was delayed for 1 1/2 hours.
