SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — A man walked away after being struck by a Bay Area Rapid Transit train while on the tracks between San Francisco BART stations, said a BART spokeswoman.

The man was walking between the Embarcadero and Montgomery Street stations on the train tracks toward Daly City when he was hit by a BART train at around 1:50 p.m., said a San Francisco Fire Department spokesman.

“It is a very small distance between the Embarcadero and Montgomery stations and trains do not travel at high speeds,” said a BART spokeswoman. “That’s probably what saved him.”

BART police walked the man from the accident scene to the Embarcadero station for medical attention from medical personnel. He will most likely be taken to a local hospital for treatment, said a fire official.

Trains are experiencing short delays because of the accident, said BART officials.
