GEORGE’S COUNTY, Maryland — An unidentified man was struck by a freight train in Prince George’s County before dawn Wednesday, police said, and is hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

A CSX train hit the man about 3:16 a.m., on tracks that are located in the 4500 block of Rhode Island Avenue. A Prince George’s police spokesman said investigators are trying to determine how and why the man came to be on the tracks.

The investigation has not required any road closures or interrupted commuter train service, authorities said.
