BOSTON — Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority officials used the London bombing anniversary Thursday to once again stress safety and security.
NewsCenter 5’s Sean Kelly reported that passengers received pamphlets during the evening commute. MBTA officers urged commuters to report any suspicious activity they see on the subway.
“Complacency also sets in,” MBTA Deputy Chief John Martino said. “People figure nothing’s happened so they can relax. We want to remind them that this is a constant, ongoing battle.”
Some commuters said that they are conscious of other riders.
“I keep my eyes open now,” one commuter said.
The pamphlet urges riders to trust their instincts.
“If you look at something and say, ‘Gee, there is something about that that just doesn’t feel right,’ you need to call,” Martino said.
Officials will be at MBTA stops Friday morning handing out more pamphlets.
