WASHINGTON — Federal officials on Monday will ask the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad to detail its plans for clearing up shipping delays at North Dakota grain elevators.
Governor Hoeven and Public Service Commissioner Tony Clark earlier asked the Surface Transportation Board to hold the railroad accountable for railcar shortages and press for a remedy.
A meeting is set for Monday in Washington, DC.
BNSF has said grain traffic demand has increased dramatically this year because of a large harvest — and it has added to its grain car fleet since last fall.
