CHICAGO — Beginning Sept. 7, Metra is adding two new stops to train #318 on the Union Pacific North Line.

The change came in response to tardiness issues some New Trier High School students are facing as a result of the new schedule Metra recently rolled out to accommodate an eight-year, $185 million project to rebuild 22 bridges and replace the Ravenswood station.

Train #318, which usually bypasses the Glencoe and Indian Hill stations, now will make stops at both, said Meg Reile, Metra spokeswoman.

The train will stop in Glencoe at 7:49 a.m. and at the Indian Hill stop at 7:58 a.m.

The new schedule change will not be posted on the Metra website until the UP North line’s schedule is fully revised, Reile said. But announcements will be made at the platforms informing passengers.

The #320 train still will stop in Glencoe at 7:56 a.m. and arrive at Indian Hill at 8:04 a.m.

Metra officials informed New Trier officials of the schedule change Friday afternoon, said Nicole Dizon, director of communications for New Trier. New Trier Winnetka Campus Principal Tim Dohrer sent a note Friday afternoon to parents informing them of the change.
