CHICAGO — A fiery freight train derailment near Elgin is blocking trains on Metra’s Milwaukee West Line this morning, but officials report no injuries or evacuations.
At least 12 cars of the Canadian National train derailed at about 5:30 a.m. in an industrial area at 31 West 504 Spaulding near Elgin and Bartlett, and three of them caught fire, authorities said. The fires appeared to be under control by 7:45 a.m.
