CHICAGO — Metra officials on Friday acknowledged what thousands of customers found out themselves last week: The commuter rail line didn’t do a very good job during the Blizzard of 2011.
Officials said that, despite their best efforts, they weren’t prepared to deal with the storm as it heaped nearly two feet of snow on the area and they didn’t get the word out to customers about reduced services and long delays.
Feb. 2 was the first time in its history that Metra was forced to shut down a line. In this case, all or part of five of Metra’s 11 lines were closed.
