LEMONT, Ill. — A Metra train from Chicago to Joliet struck a semitrailer truck Wednesday evening in Lemont, derailing its locomotive but causing no injuries, officials said.
Train No. 921 had just left the Lemont station about 6:45 p.m. when it struck the truck just east of the station at a private crossing, a Metra spokeswoman said. There was no gate at the crossing, she said.
Neither the driver of the truck, Metra workers nor any of the 150 to 175 passengers were injured, the spokeswoman said.
There was a fuel leak, but no fire, Lemont Fire Protection District officials said.
The passengers were bused to stations in Lockport and Joliet, Metra officials said.
