CHICAGO — All inbound and outbound trains on the Metra Electric line were being delayed by 20 to 50 minutes Wednesday evening.

The delays are being caused by overhead wire problems in the vicinity of Van Buren Street, according to Metra spokeswoman Judy Pardonnet.

As of 6:25 p.m., two trains — #737 and #739 — have been affected by the wire problems. Both of the trains were outbound to the south suburb of Olympia Fields.

Pardonnet said the wire problems were discovered around 5:30 p.m.

“I don’t know if there’s going to be more delays,” she said.
