Metra and Union Pacific Railroad plan to hold public meetings in the Chicago area Feb. 22-25 to publicize a new pedestrian warning system that soon will be in place on Metra’s Union Pacific West Line.

The Another Train Warning System (ATWS) will be activated at eight stations along the line on March 1. The new system is part of a $132 million project designed to improve the flow of commuter- and freight-rail traffic on the heavily used line, as well as to enable trains to safely pass a station when a Metra train is stopped at the facility.
