NEW YORK — Metro-North Railroad and New Jersey Transit will offer extra trains out of Manhattan today, accommodating commuters who want to get an early start on the Thanksgiving holiday, and more trains into Manhattan tomorrow, for riders who want to attend the Macy’s parade.
Seventeen extra Metro-North trains will leave Grand Central Terminal between 1 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. today. New Jersey Transit will also run extra rains between noon and 5 p.m. from Penn Station, and will add a Newark Liberty International Airport stop to six trains between 4:07 p.m. and 7:29 p.m.
On Thanksgiving, both railroads will operate on a holiday schedule, with some extra inbound morning service and outbound late-morning and afternoon service for riders heading to and from the 81st annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
On Friday through Sunday, Metro-North and New Jersey Transit will both operate on a weekend schedule, with some extra trains to accommodate holiday shoppers.
