BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Nearly 50,000 Metro-North riders who faced scarce service and protracted commutes during a two-week power outage on the New Haven Line in September took advantage of he railroad’s offer to refund their tickets. Since last October when the Metropolitan Transportation Authority board approved the unprecedented giveback for Connecticut riders through the Monday deadline to apply, close to 49,000 monthly pass holders redeemed unused fares over the 13-day stretch when the railroad was crippled by a failed power line.
