NEW YORK — About 84.7 million passengers rode Metro-North in 2014, solidifying its position as the country’s second busiest passenger rail carrier in the country, second only to Long Island Rail Road, which had about 86 million riders, the MTA reported. Metro-North’s last record was in 2008 when ridership reached 83.6 million.
