MIAMI — An elevated train partially derailed Wednesday, stranding commuters but causing no injuries.
Miami-Dade Police Department spokesman Robert Williams said about 30 people were on board when the train derailed around noon. They all walked along the track to safety, he said.
Officials said a piece of equipment fell off the front of the fifth car of the six-car train, dislodging a set of wheels and springing it from the track. The derailment showered debris on cars parked below the tracks.
The system connects points throughout the metropolitan Miami area.
