Michael Albert Grotzinger, 58, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Friday, February 17, 2006 at his residence.

He was born May 15, 1947 in Renovo, PA, a son of Joseph I. and Barbara Miller Grotzinger of Renovo, PA.

Michael retired from Norfolk Southern as a Railroad Engineer with 30 years of dedicated service. He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the U.S. Army Reserves and the Pennsylvania National Guard. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg and the Mechanicsburg VFW Post 109. Michael was a dedicated member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, where he served in various local offices as well as conducting special representative work for the brotherhood’s international offices. He also enjoyed woodworking and was an avid genealogist. Michael was a former boy scout leader for many years when he lived in Renovo.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Mabel M. Norris Grotzinger; 2 daughters, Carrie A., and husband, Shawn Cornman of York Springs and JoEllen Grotzinger of Mechanicsburg; 6 brothers, John of Renovo, Stephen and wife, Shirley of New Castle, Timothy and wife, Kelly of Manheim, Daniel and wife, Carol of Clark Summit, Joel and wife, Tracey of Colorado Springs, CO, and Martin of Mechanicsburg; 2 grandchildren, Dustin and Elizabeth Cornman; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10: 30 a.m., Tuesday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg. Burial will be at 1: 30 p.m., Wednesday in St. Mary’s, PA. Viewing will be 6-8 p.m., Monday in Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg.
