JERSEY CITY, N.J. — The rear wheels of a NJ Transit train left the tracks last night as it was pulling into Hoboken Terminal, officials said.

No passengers or crew were injured, and there was no damage to equipment, said NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel.

“This is as minor as a derailment gets,” Stessel said. “The only train that was affected was the train on an adjacent track (heading to Pascack Valley in Bergen County), which was canceled because it couldn’t get by.”

The wheels of the last car of a four-car train arriving from Suffern, N.Y., veered off the tracks at 5:37 p.m. “at low speed,” Stessel said.

No other trains besides the Pascack Valley train were delayed because NJ Transit has 18 “other tracks to work with” at the Hoboken Terminal, Stessel said.
