LONDON — Train services on a busy railway line between London and south Wales were disrupted Tuesday after a large inflatable Ronald McDonald blew off the roof of a nearby McDonald’s restaurant, according to the Associated Press.

A spokeswoman for Railtrack said that train drivers were warned to slow down and look out for the wayward clown — delaying services on the line — but it had not been spotted.

“A line examination could not find anything. When we tried to go down to retrieve it, it had gone,” she said on condition of anonymity.

Railtrack was alerted to the problem by McDonald’s, which said that the clown was deflated at the time — staff who climbed onto the roof of its outlet in Newport, south Wales, to inflate it reported it had blown onto the track.

“After an extensive search of the whole area our 25-foot Ronald McDonald is still at large,” said a McDonald’s spokeswoman, also speaking on condition of anonymity.

“There is a Big Mac Meal for anyone with information leading to his safe return.”
