WINCHESTER, Tenn. — The two-week Franklin County Circuit Court trial into the wrongful death of a Franklin County teen ended Friday afternoon (November 8) in a mistrial, the Tullahoma News reported.

Norman and Maryellen Feaster sued CSX Railroad over the “wrongful death” of their daughter, Hilary Orion Feaster.

After deliberating for three days, the jurors informed Franklin County Circuit Court Judge Buddy Perry that they were hopelessly deadlocked.

According to a suit filed in Franklin County Circuit Court Clerk’s office in April of 1998, Feaster was killed when a train struck her vehicle as she attempted to cross the railroad crossing on Hwy. 127 outside of Decherd.

The suit alleged that at the time of the accident, there were no warning devices at the crossing to alert oncoming vehicle traffic of an approaching train.

The suit alleges that the train came to rest 2,252 feet from the crossing.

During the two-week trial, a number expert witnesses testified and presented a number of computer-generated documents and graphics.

The Feasters asked for $7 million in damages from the railroad
