MISSOULA, Mont. — Montana Rail Link crews cleaning up after a train derailed about 10 miles east of Superior, according to Montana Rail Link spokeswoman Lynda Frost.

Frost said 23 cars came off the tracks at 11:55 p.m. Monday.

The 124-car train was carrying coal from Rawhide Junction, Wyo., to Centrillion, Wash., Frost said.

There were no injuries and no hazardous materials were spilled. Cause of the derailment remains under investigation.

MRL’s mainline is closed, but trains are still running on an alternative route that goes through Paradise, Dixon and Ravalli.
