WASHINGTON, D.C. — Heat-related speed restrictions will be in place again Friday on MARC and VRE trains that ride on CSX tracks.

CSX has once again imposed heat restrictions for trains that travel on its tracks after 1 p.m.

MARC trains on the Brunswick and Camden lines and VRE trains will operate 20 mph under the normal maximum authorized speed.

The hot weather makes the tracks more susceptible to damage. Track inspectors also will be examining the tracks for so-called “sun kinks.”

Delays of 10 to 35 minutes are expected. The same heat restrictions were in place earlier this week.
