LONDON — Rail commuters in England’s north face further disruption later this month and in early May when drivers involved in a row over the disciplining of workers plan to stage a series of one-day strikes, according to a wire service.

Train drivers’ union Aslef said Wednesday that its members will walk off their jobs at rail operator First North Western on April 22 and 29 and May 6.

The drivers have already held three daylong strikes in a long-running dispute over the downgrading and dismissal of a number of drivers, including one who was fired for running two consecutive red lights.

Previous walkouts forced the company to cancel all its train services, affecting thousands of commuters.

Talks to try to resolve the dispute will be held Thursday between the company and union officials.

As First North Western drivers prepared to strike, workers on London’s Docklands Light Railway voted by almost three to one to accept a pay offer that includes a 10 percent raise over two years.

The deal struck by the Rail Maritime and Transport union averted strike action that had been planned for later this month.
