CLEVELAND, April 29 — The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen extends its deepest sympathy to the family of BLET Vice President Merle Geiger Jr. upon the death of his mother, Doris Merle Geiger. Mrs. Geiger passed away at her home in Carson City, Nev., on April 27, after a recent illness. She was 77 years old.

She was born July 24, 1926, in Portland, Ore., to Daniel and Ethel Magill Livingston. She married Merle Geiger Sr. on March 8, 1947. Merle Geiger Sr. was a member of BLE Division 758 (Vancouver, Wash.). He passed away in 1996.

Before moving to Carson City, Mrs. Geiger lived in Vancouver, Wash.

Mrs. Geiger worked as a PBX operator for the railroad industry. She was a member of the Emblem Club in Vancouver. She was an avid bowler and taught junior bowlers while in Vancouver.

Mrs. Geiger is survived by five children: Diana, Merle Jr., Bill, Lori and Terri; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
