The BLET National Legislative Board (NLB) held its annual meeting last week at the union’s headquarters. The NLB is led by BLET National President Mark Wallace, First Vice President Gary Best, and Vice President & National Legislative Representative Vince Verna. The NLB has charge of all the union’s legislative matters and has oversight of the various BLET State Legislative Boards.
The NLB heard reports from the union’s top officers as well as staff from BLET’s National Legislative Office. Officers of the BLET’s National Association of State Legislative Board Chairmen (NASLBC) also gave reports from their various regions.
Among those attending were President Wallace (NLB Chairman); First Vice President Best (NLB Vice Chairman); VP & NLR Verna (NLB Secretary); Shane Hubbard, NS-S First Vice General Chairman/Secretary-Treasurer, NLB Member and NASLBC Chairman; Herbert Harris Jr., DC SLB Chairman and NLB Region 1 Chairman; Richard Barnett, LA SLB Chairman and NLB Region 2 Chairman; Chuck Schulz, WI SLB Chairman and NLB Region 3 Chairman; Ryan Snow, CA SLB Chairman and NLB Region 4 Chairman; and Brendan Sullivan, BLET Director of Political Affairs. Christy Smith, BLET’s Director of Regulatory Affairs, participated via Zoom.
Special guests in attendance were: Alex Beckmann, IBT Rail Conference Legislative Director; Cole Scandaglia, IBT Deputy Director, Department of Political & Legislative Action; and Amit Bose, former FRA Administrator.
